Update! - May 2026
This is a general update focused on improving our technical and artistic standard, while reinforcing one of Iron Edge’s core pillars: consistent standardization
Important: this update affects all collections, but the impact is significantly higher on older packs. The collections that received the most substantial changes are 5E, 9TD, and C390. SIE12 and GV39 already had most of the new standard in place, so they received lighter adjustments.
Older Packs vs Newer Packs
Our first pack was released in November 2023 (the 5E collection). Today, we are producing our sixth collection, SB300, and our technical standards have evolved significantly since those early releases.
This update closes the gap by bringing all packs, from the oldest to the most recent, up to the same current standard—with improvements across organization, rigging, animations, materials, and optimization. Key improvements in this update
New standard for presenting color variations in Traditional Versions
Major improvements to the Skeleton (SKEL) standard
New standard materials for optic glass and dot
Master Material refinements
General optimization to reduce file size and redundancy
All Skeletal Meshes rebuilt
All animations rebuilt
All collections now include a pre-configured Control Rig
New Standard Materials for Optic Glass and Dot

New BP for Traditional Versions (IE Pro Kit)
To improve optimization, we reduced the number of Traditional weapon Skeletal Meshes, keeping only:
Barebone
Full
In addition, we implemented a color customization Blueprint so we can keep delivering multiple presets without duplicating Skeletal Meshes for each color variation.

This BP is always configured for the Full version of the weapon, making preset usage and presentation faster and more consistent.
New Skeleton (SKEL) Standard
Our weapon Skeleton standard is now cleaner, more optimized, and more professional.
Key changes:
Removed _Ends suffixes
Removed unused bones (or bones that can be replaced by Sockets)
Enforced a strict standard to support code-driven manipulation and tooling:
rotations set to 0,0,0
scale set to 1
As a result, 5E, 9TD, and C390 had all Skeletal Meshes and animations rebuilt.
Alongside this standardization, we also added a feature that 5E and 9TD did not previously include: Control Rig. Now, all collections ship with a ready-to-use Control Rig.
Additionally, a new standard bone was added across all weapons: AmmoJam—an extra bone designed for jam/malfunction animations where more than one cartridge needs to be represented at the same time.
